monday, april 30

Matthew experimenting with static electricity.  He rubbed the balloon against his hair and then held the balloon along side the water flow.  Can you see how the flow of water is going towards the balloon?  Pretty cool.

Shelby had 2 more games today.  Shelby spent the night at her friend's house and Gracie came along for Shelby's 1st game.  In between games we went to panera bread for lunch and then to the mall.  The ladies (or gentlemen that the panera person called them!) were willing participants to have their picture taken with the build-a-bear mascot.  I hope she never outgrows her silliness!

After Shelby's 2nd game of the day we stopped at our local 99 Restaurant to have a bite to eat.  My mom was able to come up and see Shelby play.  Yes!  We brought Shelby in the 99 with her purple socks and flip flops on....

Waiting patiently for the fish to eat.  I am trying to get the fish to eat food from us again.  A few years ago they would come up and eat the pellets right out of your hand.

Shelby working on her "career project" that is due when she gets back from vacation.  She chose a cartoonist.  This is the last part of the 3 part project.  She wrote a paper, made a poster and this is her drawing of herself as a cartoonist.

Yard is all done for the spring...just my flower beds and Mark won't do those :)  He's using a thatching rake that a friend of his gave us last year.  Makes easy work of getting the dead stuff out.

monday, april 23

Yay!  It's still raining.  This rain has really helped our water deficit out.  The Merrimack river was the lowest I have seen it in 16 1/2 years of living in NH. We're still about 6" short of our normal so we are hoping for more rain.

Had to take Matthew to the eye doctor so that they could remove an ingrown eyelash on his upper lid.  The doctor numbed Matthew's eyelid then made a small incision and removed the lash with tweezers.  The nurse said they see about 3 cases per year like this.

sunday, april 15

We stopped on our way home for ice cream, the girls deserved it!  It was well earned for keeping themselves together and playing in a game that you couldn't say was basketball.  The 2nd day spent in Fitchburg was not pretty!  The last game of the day was the nastiest, dirtiest game Shelby has ever played in.  I believe if you don't display good sportsmanship than you shouldn't be able to coach or play....just my opinion.

Relaxing between games.  We spent the day in nasty Fitchburg, MA for a basketball tournament.  They won both games today.

Mark and Matthew spent the day at St. Anselm's.  Mark was impressed with the campus and how well it is maintained.  The classes are very small....the one class they looked in on had about 11 students in it.  They had lunch in the cafe.  Matthew is excited about attending college in the fall.  I'm just glad that he'll only be 20 minutes away.
